Hadith 14316

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنِ عَمْرٍو ، سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ هُوَ الْقَادِرُ عَلَى أَنْ يَبْعَثَ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابًا مِنْ فَوْقِكُمْ سورة الأنعام آية 65 ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَعُوذُ بِوَجْهِكَ " فَلَمَّا نَزَلَتْ أَوْ مِنْ تَحْتِ أَرْجُلِكُمْ سورة الأنعام آية 65 ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَعُوذُ بِوَجْهِكَ " فَلَمَّا نَزَلَتْ أَوْ يَلْبِسَكُمْ شِيَعًا وَيُذِيقَ بَعْضَكُمْ بَأْسَ بَعْضٍ سورة الأنعام آية 65 ، قَالَ : هَذِهِ أَهْوَنُ أو َأَيْسَرُ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that when this verse was revealed «هُوَ الْقَادِرُ عَلَى أَنْ يَبْعَثَ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابًا مِنْ فَوْقِكُمْ» "that Allah is able to send punishment upon you from above you," the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Allah, I seek refuge in Your Essence." Then when the next part was revealed «أَوْ مِنْ تَحْتِ أَرْجُلِكُمْ» "or from beneath your feet," the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) again said: "O Allah, I seek refuge in Your Essence." Then when the next part was revealed «أَوْ يَلْبِسَكُمْ شِيَعًا وَيُذِيقَ بَعْضَكُمْ بَأْسَ بَعْضٍ» "or to confuse you in parties and make you taste the violence of one another," the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This is lighter and easier than the previous ones."
