It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked me, "Have you gotten married?" I replied, "Yes." He asked, "To a virgin or to one previously married?" I replied, "To one previously married." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Why did you not marry a virgin so that you could play with her and she could play with you?" I replied, "O Messenger of Allah! My father was martyred in the Battle of Uhud and he left behind seven daughters. I did not think it appropriate to bring someone like them (i.e., inexperienced); I thought of marrying a woman who could look after them." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "You have done the right thing."
