Hadith 14278

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ الثَّقَفِيُّ ، عَنْ جَعْفَرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَضَى بِالْيَمِينِ مَعَ الشَّاهِدِ ، قَالَ جَعْفَرٌ ، قَالَ أَبِي : وَقَضَى بِهِ عَلِيٌّ بِالْعِرَاقِ ، قَالَ أَبُو عَبْد الرَّحْمَنِ : كَانَ أَبِي قَدْ ضَرَبَ عَلَى هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ ، قَالَ : وَلَمْ يُوَافِقْ أَحَدٌ الثَّقَفِيَّ عَلَى جَابِرٍ ، فَلَمْ أَزَلْ بِهِ حَتَّى قَرَأَهُ عَلَيَّ وَكَتَبَ عَلَيْهِ صَحَّ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave a verdict in favor of the claimant by taking an oath from him in the presence of one witness (as if the oath was accepted as a second witness).
