Hadith 1426

Hasan al-Basri, may Allah have mercy on him, says that a man came to Sayyiduna Zubair, may Allah be pleased with him, and said, "Shall I finish off Ali?" He replied, "Absolutely not! And besides, he has such a large army with him that you cannot kill him anyway." The man said, "Then will you go to him and dispute with him regarding the matter of the caliphate?" He replied, "That too is not possible because the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: 'Faith has shackled the feet of dispute, therefore a believer is not quarrelsome.'"
