Hadith 14246

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Zuhr prayer is as its name suggests, the Asr prayer is named after the brightness and freshness of the sun, the Maghrib prayer is also as its name suggests. We used to perform the Maghrib prayer with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and return to our homes at a distance of one mile, and we could see the place where an arrow would fall. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would sometimes offer the Isha prayer early and sometimes delay it, and the Fajr prayer is also as its name suggests, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would perform the Fajr prayer in complete darkness.
