It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the day of the Battle of Uhud, Hazrat Abu Talha (may Allah be pleased with him) was standing in front of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) shooting arrows, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was standing behind him, taking him as a shield. He was an excellent archer. When he would shoot an arrow, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would look to see where the arrow had fallen. Hazrat Abu Talha (may Allah be pleased with him) would raise his chest and say, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! May my parents be sacrificed for you, let no arrow strike you; my chest is before your chest." And he would put himself in front of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and say, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! My body is strong, send me for your work and command me as you wish."
