Hadith 14025

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، أَخْبَرَنِي جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مَعْبَدٍ ، قَالَ : ذَهَبْتُ إِلَى أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ أَنَا ، وَحُمَيْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، قَالَ : فَسَمِعْتُ أَنَسًا ، قَالَ : كُنَّا إِذَا بَايَعْنَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يُلَقِّنُنَا هُوَ : " فِيمَا اسْتَطَعْتُم " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that when we used to pledge allegiance to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would include the condition "according to ability" in it.
