Hadith 13943

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنِي قَتَادَةُ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ : أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " نُهِيَ عَنِ الشُّرْبِ قَائِمًا ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ : فَالْأَكْلُ ؟ قَالَ : ذَاكَ أَشَدُّ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade drinking while standing. I asked about eating (while standing), so he said: "That is even more severe than this."
