Hadith 13770

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ بَكْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدٌ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، قَالَ : " أَرَادَ بَنُو سَلِمَةَ أَنْ يَتَحَوَّلُوا عَنْ مَنَازِلِهِمْ إِلَى قُرْبِ الْمَسْجِدِ ، فَكَرِهَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ تَعْرَى الْمَدِينَةُ ، فَقَالَ : يَا بَنِي سَلِمَةَ ، أَلَا تَحْتَسِبُونَ آثَارَكُمْ ؟ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Banu Salamah once intended to move from their old residence and settle near the mosque. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to know of this, he did not like the idea of Madinah becoming empty. Therefore, he said, "O Banu Salamah! Do you not wish to attain the reward for the steps you take towards the mosque?"
