Hadith 13742

It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was on a journey, and Hazrat Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) was riding behind him on the mount, and there was nothing between them except the rear part of the saddle. During this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called Hazrat Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) by his name twice, with a pause in between, and both times he replied, "At your service, O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and at your pleasure." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Do you know what Allah's right upon His servants is? It is that they worship Him alone and do not associate anything with Him. Do you know what the right of the servants upon Allah is when they do this?" He replied, "Allah and His Messenger know best." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "The right of the servants upon Allah is that He does not punish them."
