(حديث موقوف) حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ ، أخبرنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ كُهَيْلٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سَبُعٍ ، قَالَ : خَطَبَنَا عَلِيٌّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، فَقَالَ : " وَالَّذِي فَلَقَ الْحَبَّةَ ، وَبَرَأَ النَّسَمَةَ ، لَتُخْضَبَنَّ هَذِهِ مِنْ هَذِهِ ، قَالَ : قَالَ النَّاسُ : فَأَعْلِمْنَا مَنْ هُوَ ؟ وَاللَّهِ لَنُبِيرَنَّهُ ، أو لَنُبِيرَنَّ عِتْرَتَهُ ، قَالَ : أَنْشُدُكُمْ بِاللَّهِ أَنْ يُقْتَلَ غَيْرُ قَاتِلِي ، قَالُوا : إِنْ كُنْتَ قَدْ عَلِمْتَ ذَلِكَ اسْتَخْلِفْ إِذًا ، قَالَ : لَا ، وَلَكِنْ أَكِلُكُمْ إِلَى مَا وَكَلَكُمْ إِلَيْهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " .
Abdullah bin Saba says that once, while delivering a sermon, Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: By the One who splits the grain and creates the living being! This beard will surely be dyed with the blood of this head. The people said: O Commander of the Faithful! Tell us his name and address, we will wipe out his lineage. He said: I beseech you by Allah, do not kill anyone except my killer. The people said: When you know this, then appoint your deputy over us. He said: No, I will leave you in the same state as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) left you.
