Hadith 1303

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا شَبَابَةُ بْنُ سَوَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي نُعَيْمُ بْنُ حَكِيمٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو مَرْيَمَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " إِنَّ قَوْمًا يَمْرُقُونَ مِنَ الْإِسْلَامِ كَمَا يَمْرُقُ السَّهْمُ مِنَ الرَّمِيَّةِ ، يَقْرَءُونَ الْقُرْآنَ لَا يُجَاوِزُ تَرَاقِيَهُمْ ، طُوبَى لِمَنْ قَتَلَهُمْ وَقَتَلُوهُ ، عَلَامَتُهُمْ رَجُلٌ مُخْدَجُ الْيَدِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A people will come who will leave Islam just as an arrow passes through its prey. They will recite the Qur'an but it will not go beyond their throats. Glad tidings are for the one who kills them or is martyred at their hands. Their sign is a man whose hand will be incomplete."
