Hadith 1302

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنِي نَصْرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ دَاوُدَ ، عَنْ نُعَيْمِ بْنِ حَكِيمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : " كَانَ عَلَى الْكَعْبَةِ أَصْنَامٌ ، فَذَهَبْتُ لِأَحْمِلَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَيْهَا ، فَلَمْ أَسْتَطِعْ ، فَحَمَلَنِي ، فَجَعَلْتُ أَقْطَعُهَا ، وَلَوْ شِئْتُ لَنِلْتُ السَّمَاءَ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that there were many idols placed on the Ka'bah. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) told me to sit down, and he himself climbed onto my shoulders. I tried to stand up but was unable to do so. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) stood up with me, and I began to break the idols. At that moment, I felt as if, if I wished, I could touch the horizon.
