Hadith 12871

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنِ الشُّرْبِ قَائِمًا ، قُلْتُ : فَالْأَكْلُ ؟ قَالَ : ذَاكَ أَشَدُّ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade anyone from drinking while standing. I asked about eating, so he said, "That is even more severe than this."
