It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the occasion of the Battle of Hunayn, when Allah granted the spoils of Banu Hawazin to the Prophet (peace be upon him), and the Prophet (peace be upon him) began giving one hundred camels each to every man of the Quraysh, some of the Ansar said, "May Allah forgive the Prophet (peace be upon him), he is giving to the Quraysh and ignoring us, while the drops of blood are still dripping from our swords." When the Prophet (peace be upon him) learned of this, he called the Ansari companions and gathered them in a tent made of leather, and did not allow anyone else to enter. When they had all gathered, the Prophet (peace be upon him) came and said, "What are these things I am hearing about you?" They replied, "Our elders have said nothing, but some of the younger people have said such things." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "I give wealth to those whose time in disbelief is still recent, and through it I seek to win their hearts. Are you not pleased that people go away with wealth and you return to your tents with the Messenger of Allah? By Allah! What you return with is far better than what they return with." All the Ansari companions said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)! We are pleased." Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Soon you will see much favoritism after me, but be patient until you meet Allah and His Messenger, for I will wait for you at the Hawd (the Prophet's fountain)." Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says, "We could not remain patient."
