(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، أَوْ عَنِ النَّضْرِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَعَدَنِي أَنْ يُدْخِلَ الْجَنَّةَ مِنْ أُمَّتِي أَرْبَعَ مِائَةِ أَلْفٍ " فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ : زِدْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : " وَهَكَذَا " وَجَمَعَ كَفَّهُ ، قَالَ : زِدْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : " وَهَكَذَا " فَقَالَ عُمَرُ : حَسْبُكَ يَا أَبَا بَكْرٍ ، فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ : دَعْنِي يَا عُمَرُ ، مَا عَلَيْكَ أَنْ يُدْخِلَنَا اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ الْجَنَّةَ كُلَّنَا ! فَقَالَ عُمَرُ : إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ إِنْ شَاءَ أَدْخَلَ خَلْقَهُ الْجَنَّةَ بِكَفٍّ وَاحِدٍ ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " صَدَقَ عُمَرُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah Almighty has promised me that He will admit four hundred thousand people from my Ummah into Paradise. Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) submitted, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Increase this number." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) joined his palms together and said, "This many more will be added." Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) again submitted, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Increase this number." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) again joined his palms together and said, "This many more will be added." Upon this, Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Abu Bakr! That is enough." Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Umar! Step back. If Allah Almighty admits all of us into Paradise completely, there is no harm for you in it." Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "If Allah wills, He can admit all creation into Paradise in a single handful." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Umar speaks the truth."
