Hadith 12442

(حديث قدسي) حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ ، أَخْبَرَنِي سُهَيْلٌ أَخُو حَزْمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا ثَابِتٌ الْبُنَانِيُّ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : قَرَأَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ أَهْلُ التَّقْوَى وَأَهْلُ الْمَغْفِرَةِ سورة المدثر آية 56 ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَبُّكُمْ : " أَنَا أَهْلٌ أَنْ أُتَّقَى ، فَلَا يُجْعَلْ مَعِي إِلَهٌ ، فَمَنْ اتَّقَى أَنْ يَجْعَلَ مَعِي إِلَهًا ، كَانَ أَهْلًا أَنْ أَغْفِرَ لَهُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited this verse: "He is worthy of being feared and worthy of granting forgiveness," and said: "Your Lord has said, 'I am worthy that people fear Me and do not associate anyone as a deity with Me. Whoever fears associating anyone as a deity with Me, he is worthy that I forgive him.'"
