Hadith 12325

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ الدَّسْتُوَائِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ يُونُسَ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : " مَا أَكَلَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى خِوَانٍ ، وَلَا فِي سُكُرُّجَةٍ ، وَلَا خُبِزَ لَهُ مُرَقَّقٌ " ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ لِقَتَادَةَ : فَعَلَامَ كَانُوا يَأْكُلُونَ ؟ ، قَالَ : عَلَى السُّفَرِ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) never ate on a table or in small bowls, nor was fine bread ever baked for him. The narrator asked, "Then on what did he eat his food?" He replied, "On dining cloths (dastarkhwan)."
