Hadith 12172

It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) informed us during a sermon that Zaid took the flag but was martyred, then Ja’far took it but he too was martyred, then Abdullah bin Rawahah took it but he too was martyred, then Khalid bin Walid took the flag without any commandership and Allah granted victory to the Muslims at his hands, and I do not rejoice that they remained with us; at that time, tears were flowing from the eyes of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
