Hadith 12146

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، أَنَّ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ حَدَّثَهُمْ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " مَا بَالُ أَقْوَامٍ يَرْفَعُونَ أَبْصَارَهُمْ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ فِي صَلَاتِهِمْ ، فَاشْتَدَّ قَوْلُهُ فِي ذَلِكَ ، حَتَّى قَالَ : لَيَنْتَهُنَّ عَنْ ذَلِكَ ، أَوْ لَتُخْطَفَنَّ أَبْصَارُهُمْ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: What is the matter with people that during prayer they raise their eyes towards the sky? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) strongly forbade this and said: People should refrain from this, otherwise their eyesight will be taken away.
