(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ ، وَابْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، وَعَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ الْخَفَّافُ ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ الصَّلَاة وَالسَّلَامُ قَالَ : " إِنِّي لَأَدْخُلُ الصَّلَاةَ وَأَنَا أُرِيدُ أَنْ أُطِيلَهَا ، فَأَسْمَعُ بُكَاءَ الصَّبِيِّ ، فَأَتَجَاوَزُ فِي صَلَاتِي ، مِمَّا أَعْلَمُ مِنْ شِدَّةِ وَجْدِ أُمِّهِ مِنْ بُكَائِهِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sometimes I begin the prayer with the intention of leading a long prayer, but then I hear the cry of a child, so I shorten my prayer, because I know how much his mother would be distressed because of his crying.
