It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the tribe of Banu Salamah once intended to move from their old residence and settle near the mosque. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) learned of this, he did not like the idea of Madinah becoming empty. Therefore, he said, "O Banu Salamah! Do you not wish to attain the reward for the steps you take towards the mosque?" They replied, "Why not, O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)!" So they remained settled there.
