(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَتَتَّبِعُنَّ سُنَنَ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ شِبْرًا بِشِبْرٍ ، وَذِرَاعًا بِذِرَاعٍ ، حَتَّى لَوْ دَخَلَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ جُحْرَ ضَبٍّ ، لَتَبِعْتُمُوهُمْ فِيهِ " ، وَقَالَ مَرَّةً : " لَتَبِعْتُمُوهُ فِيهِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: You will surely follow the ways of those before you, span by span and cubit by cubit, so much so that if they enter the hole of a lizard, you will also do the same.
