(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْبَخْتَرِيِّ ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " لَا يَحْقِرَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ نَفْسَهُ إِذَا رَأَى أَمْرَ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ فِيهِ مَقَالًا ، فَلَا يَقُولُ بِهِ ، فَيَلْقَى اللَّهَ وَقَدْ أَضَاعَ ذَلِكَ ، فَيَقُولُ : مَا مَنَعَكَ ؟ فَيَقُولُ خَشِيتُ النَّاسَ ، فَيَقُولُ : أَنَا كُنْتُ أَحَقَّ أَنْ تَخْشَى " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: None of you should consider himself so insignificant that he withholds saying a word for the sake of Allah’s pleasure, even though he has the right to say it, but does not say it. For Allah will ask him: What prevented you from saying that word? The servant will say: My Lord! I was afraid of the people. Allah will say: I was more deserving that you should fear Me.
