(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا صَفْوَانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا أُنَيْسُ بْنُ أَبِي يَحْيَى ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، أَنَّ رَجُلًا مِنْ بَنِي عَمْرِو بْنِ عَوْفٍ ، وَرَجُلًا مِنْ بَنِي خُدْرَةَ امْتَرَيَا فِي الْمَسْجِدِ الَّذِي أُسِّسَ عَلَى التَّقْوَى ، فَقَالَ الْعَوْفِيُّ : هُوَ مَسْجِدُ قُبَاءٍ ، وَقَالَ الْخُدْرِيُّ : هُوَ مَسْجِدُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَأَتَيَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَسَأَلَاهُ عَنْ ذَلِكَ ، فَقَالَ : " هُوَ مَسْجِدِي هَذَا ، وَفِي ذَلِكَ خَيْرٌ كَثِيرٌ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that once there arose a difference of opinion between two men from Banu Khudrah and Banu Amr bin Auf regarding the identification of the mosque which was founded on piety from the very first day. The man from Amr's side held the opinion that it was the Mosque of Quba, while the man from Khudrah's side held that it was the Prophet's Mosque. Both of them came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and asked about it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), deciding the matter, said: "What is meant is my mosque, and there is abundant good in the Mosque of Quba."
