(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ أَسْلَمَ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " لَتَتَّبِعُنَّ سُنَنَ الَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ شِبْرًا بِشِبْرٍ ، وَذِرَاعًا بِذِرَاعٍ ، حَتَّى لَوْ دَخَلُوا جُحْرَ ضَبٍّ لَتَبِعْتُمُوهُمْ " ، قُلْنَا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، الْيَهُودُ وَالنَّصَارَى ؟ قَالَ : " فَمَنْ ؟ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "You will surely follow the ways of those before you, handspan by handspan and arm's length by arm's length, so much so that if they enter a lizard's hole, you will also do the same." We said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)! Do you mean the Jews and the Christians?" The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Who else?" It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that a wolf attacked a goat and took it away. The shepherd went out in search of it and recovered it. The wolf sat on its tail and said... Then the narrator mentioned the entire hadith.
