(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ شُعَيْبِ بْنِ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ , أَخْبَرَنِي أَبِي ، قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ يَعْنِي الزُّهْرِيَّ : أَخْبَرَنِي حُمَيْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ، وَأَبَا سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيَّ أَخْبَرَاهُ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، رَأَى نُخَامَةً فِي حَائِطِ الْمَسْجِدِ ، فَتَنَاوَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَصَاةً ، فَحَتَّهَا ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " إِذَا تَنَخَّمَ أَحَدُكُمْ وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي ، فَلَا يَتَنَخَّمْ قِبَلَ وَجْهِهِ ، وَلَا عَنْ يَمِينِهِ ، وَلْيَبْصُقْ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ ، أَوْ تَحْتَ قَدَمِهِ الْيُسْرَى " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) and Abu Saeed (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw sputum or nasal discharge stuck in the direction of the Qibla in the mosque. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) cleaned it with a pebble and, forbidding spitting in front or to the right, said that when any of you wishes to spit while praying, he should not look in front or to the right, but should spit to the left or under his foot.
