Hadith 11641

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا الْمَسْعُودِيُّ ، عَنْ زَيْدٍ الْعَمِّيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي نَضْرَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : " جُلِدَ عَلَى عَهْدِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الْخَمْرِ بِنَعْلَيْنِ أَرْبَعِينَ ، فَلَمَّا كَانَ زَمَنُ عُمَرَ جُلِدَ بَدَلَ كُلِّ نَعْلٍ سَوْطًا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that during the blessed era of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), the punishment for drinking alcohol was forty lashes with shoes, then during the time of Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), whips were prescribed instead of shoes.
