Hadith 11478

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا هِشَامٌ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا عِيَاضٌ أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ أَبَا سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيَّ ، فَقَالَ : إِنَّ أَحَدَنَا يُصَلِّي فَلَا يَدْرِي كَمْ صَلَّى ؟ فَقَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا صَلَّى أَحَدُكُمْ فَلَمْ يَدْرِ كَمْ صَلَّى ، فَلْيَسْجُدْ سَجْدَتَيْنِ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ ، فَإِذَا جَاءَ أَحَدَكُمْ الشَّيْطَانُ فَقَالَ : إِنَّكَ قَدْ أَحْدَثْتَ فِي صَلَاتِكَ ، فَلْيَقُلْ : كَذَبْتَ ، إِلَّا مَا وَجَدَ رِيحًا بِأَنْفِهِ ، أَوْ سَمِعَ صَوْتًا بِأُذُنِهِ " .
Iyad (may Allah have mercy on him) says that I asked Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that sometimes one of us is praying and does not remember how many rak'ahs he has prayed? He replied that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: When any one of you is praying and does not remember how many rak'ahs he has prayed, he should perform two prostrations of forgetfulness while sitting. And when Satan comes to any one of you and says that your ablution has broken, then say to him: "You are lying," unless he smells something from his nose or hears its sound with his ears.
