Hadith 11469

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُبَارَكَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدٌ الْجُرَيْرِيُّ ، عَنْ أَبِي نَضْرَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا اسْتَجَدَّ ثَوْبًا سَمَّاهُ بِاسْمِهِ عِمَامَةً ، أَوْ قَمِيصًا ، أَوْ رِدَاءً ، ثُمَّ يَقُولُ : " اللَّهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ أَنْتَ كَسَوْتَنِيهِ ، أَسْأَلُكَ خَيْرَهُ ، وَخَيْرَ مَا صُنِعَ لَهُ ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّهِ ، وَمِنْ شَرِّ مَا صُنِعَ لَهُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) wore a new garment, he would first mention its name, for example, shirt or turban, then he would recite this supplication: O Allah! All praise is due to You, for You have clothed me with this garment. I ask You for its goodness and the goodness of what it was made for, and I seek refuge with You from its evil and the evil of what it was made for.
