Hadith 11388

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجٌ ، وَعَفَّانُ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ ، وَقَالَ عَفَّانُ : أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَجَّاجُ ، عَنْ عَطِيَّةَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَوْ سَأَلَهُ رَجُلٌ ، فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ : إِنَّ الذِّئْبَ قَطَعَ ذَنَبَ شَاةٍ لِي فَأُضَحِّي بِهَا ؟ ، قَالَ : " نَعَمْ " ، وَقَالَ عَفَّانُ : عَنْ ذَنَبِ شَاةٍ لَهُ ، فَقَطَعَهَا الذِّئْبُ ، فَقَالَ أُضَحِّي بِهَا ؟ ، قَالَ : " نَعَمْ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I or someone else asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) this question: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! A wolf bit off the tail of my goat and ran away, can I offer it as a sacrifice? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Yes! You can.
