Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that once, due to the severity of hunger, I left my house. I passed by a woman who had gathered some clay. I understood that she wanted to moisten it with water. I went to her and made an agreement with her that for every bucket I draw, she would give me one date. So I drew sixteen buckets until my hands became tired. Then I went to the water, drank some water, and after that, I went to the woman and stretched out both my hands. She counted out sixteen dates and placed them in my hands. I took those dates and went to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and told him the whole incident. I fed some of the dates to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and ate some myself.
