Hadith 11322

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، أَوْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ مَعْمَرٌ شَكَّ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَجُلٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَيُّ النَّاسِ أَفْضَلُ ؟ ، قَالَ : " مُؤْمِنٌ مُجَاهِدٌ بِنَفْسِهِ وَمَالِهِ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ " ، قَالَ : ثُمَّ مَنْ ؟ ، قَالَ : " ثُمَّ رَجُلٌ مُعْتَزِلٌ فِي شِعْبٍ مِنَ الشِّعَابِ ، يَعْبُدُ رَبَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ ، وَيَدَعُ النَّاسَ مِنْ شَرِّهِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that a person asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), "Who is the best among the people?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "The believer who strives in the way of Allah with his life and wealth." The questioner asked, "Who is after him?" He replied, "The believer who lives in seclusion in any locality, fears Allah, and keeps people safe from his harm."
