(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِيَّاكُمْ وَالْجُلُوسَ فِي الطُّرُقَاتِ " ، قَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، مَا لَنَا مِنْ مَجَالِسِنَا بُدٌّ نَتَحَدَّثُ فِيهَا ، قَالَ : " فَأَمَّا إِذَا أَبَيْتُمْ إِلَّا الْمَجْلِسَ ، فَأَعْطُوا الطَّرِيقَ حَقَّهُ " ، قَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، فَمَا حَقُّ الطَّرِيقِ ؟ ، قَالَ : " غَضُّ الْبَصَرِ ، وَكَفُّ الْأَذَى ، وَرَدُّ السَّلَامِ ، وَالْأَمْرُ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ ، وَالنَّهْيُ عَنِ الْمُنْكَرِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Avoid sitting on the roads." The companions said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! We cannot do without it; in this way, we chat with each other." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "If you cannot avoid sitting, then fulfill the rights of the road." The companions asked, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! What are the rights of the road?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Lower your gaze, avoid causing harm, return greetings, enjoin good, and forbid evil."
