Hadith 11298

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، وَسُئِلَ عَنِ الثَّلَاثَةِ يَجْتَمِعُونَ فَتَحْضُرُهُمْ الصَّلَاةُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي نَضْرَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " إِذَا اجْتَمَعَ ثَلَاثَةٌ فَلْيَؤُمَّهُمْ أَحَدُهُمْ ، وَأَحَقُّهُمْ بِالْإِمَامَةِ أَقْرَؤُهُمْ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Where there are three people, at the time of prayer one of them should become the imam, and the one most deserving of leading them is the one who knows the most Qur'an among them.
