Hadith 11268

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي لَيْلَى ، عَنْ عَطِيَّةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا تَحِلُّ الصَّدَقَةُ لِغَنِيٍّ إِلَّا لِثَلَاثَةٍ : فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ، وَابْنِ السَّبِيلِ ، وَرَجُلٍ كَانَ لَهُ جَارٌ ، فَتَصَدَّقَ عَلَيْهِ فَأَهْدَى لَهُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: It is not permissible for a wealthy person to take charity (zakat), except in three cases: in jihad in the way of Allah, in a state of travel, and in the case where something from charity is sent to his neighbor and the neighbor gives it as a gift to the wealthy person.
