It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that we used to take turns staying with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) at night, so that if the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) needed anything or had any work at night, he could send us. Sometimes, a considerable number of those seeking this reward and those whose turn it was would gather together, and in such a situation, we would talk among ourselves. Once, during the night, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to us and said, "What are these whispers? Did I not forbid you from whispering?" We said, "O Messenger of Allah! We repent. Actually, we were mentioning Dajjal and we are afraid of him." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Shall I not tell you something which, in my view, is more dangerous for you than Dajjal?" We said, "Why not?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "It is hidden shirk: that a person stands up for an action because of another person."
