Hadith 11145

Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that once Hazrat Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) was ordered by Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) to come to him. He went to him and sought permission to enter three times, but he was not granted permission, so he returned. Later, when he met Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) asked him, "What is the matter, why did you go back?" He replied, "I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say that whoever seeks permission three times and is not granted permission should return." Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Present a witness for this, otherwise I will punish you." So he went to a gathering of his people and adjured them by Allah, so I said, "I will go with you." Thus, I went with him and testified to this, and Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) let him go.
