Sulaiman bin Amr, may Allah have mercy on him, who was raised as an orphan under the care of Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri, may Allah be pleased with him, says: I heard Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri, may Allah be pleased with him, narrate this saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: A bridge (Sirat) will be established over Hell, upon which there will be thorns like "Sa'dan." Then people will be made to pass over it. The Muslims will be saved from it; some will escape after being wounded, and some will get entangled and fall into Hell.

When Allah has finished judging His servants, the Muslims will not see some people who used to be with them in the world, who used to pray, give zakat, fast, perform Hajj, and strive in jihad just like them. So they will present themselves before Allah and say: O Lord! Some of Your servants used to be with us in the world, used to pray like us, give zakat, fast, perform Hajj, and strive in jihad, but we do not see them? Allah, the Exalted, will say: Go to Hell and take out from it as many people as you find there. So they will go and see that the fire of Hell has engulfed them according to their deeds—some up to their feet, some up to half their shins, some up to their knees, some up to their waist, some up to their chest, and some up to their necks—but the flames will not have reached their faces. The Muslims will take them out from there, then they will be placed in the "Water of Life."

Someone asked: O Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, what is meant by the Water of Life? He said: The river in which the people of Paradise bathe. By bathing in it, they will grow forth just as wild grass grows on the banks of a flood. After that, the noble Prophets will intercede for every person who sincerely bore witness to "La ilaha illallah" (There is no god but Allah), and they too will be taken out from Hell. Then Allah will bestow His special mercy upon the people of Hell, and He will not leave in it a single servant in whose heart there is even a mustard seed's weight of faith.
