It is narrated from Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that once Marwan brought out the pulpit on the day of Eid, which was not usually brought out, and he began to deliver the sermon before the prayer, which had never been done before. Seeing this, a man stood up and said, "Marwan! You have opposed the Sunnah. You brought out the pulpit on the day of Eid, which was not brought out before, and you delivered the sermon before the prayer, which had never been done before." In that gathering, Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) was also present. He asked, "Who is this man?" People informed him that he is so-and-so, son of so-and-so. He said, "This person has fulfilled his responsibility. I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: 'Whoever among you sees an evil, let him change it with his hand; if he is not able to do so, then with his tongue; and if he is not able to do so, then with his heart—and that is the weakest level of faith.'"
