(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ هُبَيْرَةَ ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " إِذَا دَخَلَ الْعَشْرُ أَيْقَظَ أَهْلَهُ ، وَرَفَعَ الْمِئْزَرَ " ، قِيلَ لِأَبِي بَكْرٍ : مَا رَفَعَ الْمِئْزَرَ ؟ قَالَ : اعْتَزَلَ النِّسَاءَ .
Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that when the last ten days of Ramadan would begin, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would wake up his family and tighten his waistcloth. Someone asked the narrator what is meant by "tightening the waistcloth"? He replied that it means he would keep away from his pure wives.
