Hazrat Abu Saeed (may Allah be pleased with him) says that once I was sitting in a gathering of the Ansar when Hazrat Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) came to us in a state of anxiety and said, "Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) had ordered me to come to him. I went to him and asked for permission to enter three times, but I was not granted permission, so I returned, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said that whoever seeks permission three times and is not granted permission should return. Now Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) is saying that either present a witness for this or I will punish you. I have come to make one of you a witness." Upon this, Hazrat Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "In this matter, even the youngest boy among us can go with you." I was the youngest among them, so I went with him and testified that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) indeed said that whoever seeks permission three times and is not granted permission should return.
