It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed (may Allah be pleased with him) that once we were waiting for the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) for the Isha prayer. While waiting, a third of the night passed. Finally, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came and led us in prayer. Then he said, "Remain seated in your places. People have gone to their beds, but as long as you have been waiting for the prayer, you have been counted as being in prayer. If it were not for the weakness of the weak, the illness of the sick, and the need of those with needs, I would have delayed this prayer until a portion of the night."
