(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، قَالَ عُمَرُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، لَقَدْ سَمِعْتُ فُلَانًا وَفُلَانًا يُحْسِنَانِ الثَّنَاءَ يَذْكُرَانِ أَنَّكَ أَعْطَيْتَهُمَا دِينَارَيْنِ ، قَالَ : فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَكِنَّ وَاللَّهِ فُلَانًا مَا هُوَ كَذَلِكَ ، لَقَدْ أَعْطَيْتُهُ مِنْ عَشَرَةٍ إِلَى مِائَةٍ ، فَمَا يَقُولُ ذَاكَ ، أَمَا وَاللَّهِ إِنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ لَيُخْرِجُ مَسْأَلَتَهُ مِنْ عِنْدِي يَتَأَبَّطُهَا " يَعْنِي تَكُونُ تَحْتَ إِبْطِهِ ، يَعْنِي نَارًا ، قَالَ : قَالَ : عُمَرُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، لِمَ تُعْطِيهَا إِيَّاهُمْ ؟ ، قَالَ : " فَمَا أَصْنَعُ ؟ يَأْبَوْنَ إِلَّا ذَاكَ ، وَيَأْبَى اللَّهُ لِي الْبُخْلَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed (may Allah be pleased with him) that once Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) submitted in the court of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), "O Messenger of Allah! I have heard so-and-so two men being highly praised and it was mentioned that you gave them two dinars each." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "But by Allah! That man is not like that. I have given him from ten up to a hundred dinars. What does he say? Remember! Whoever among you leaves my presence after fulfilling his request is leaving with fire under his arm." Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "O Messenger of Allah! Then why do you give them?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "What can I do? They do not accept anything else, and Allah does not like miserliness for me."
