(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَنْصُورٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زَاذَانَ ، عَنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْمُتَوَكِّلِ أَوْ عَنْ أَبِي الصِّدِّيقِ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : " كُنَّا نَحْزِرُ قِيَامَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الظُّهْرِ وَالْعَصْرِ ، قَالَ : فَحَزَرْنَا قِيَامَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الظُّهْرِ فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ الْأُولَيَيْنِ قَدْرَ قِرَاءَةِ ثَلَاثِينَ آيَةً ، قَدْرَ قِرَاءَةِ سُورَةِ تَنْزِيلُ السَّجْدَةِ ، قَالَ : وَحَزَرْنَا قِيَامَهُ فِي الْأُخْرَيَيْنِ عَلَى النِّصْفِ مِنْ ذَلِكَ ، قَالَ : وَحَزَرْنَا قِيَامَهُ فِي الْعَصْرِ فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ الْأُولَيَيْنِ عَلَى النِّصْفِ مِنْ ذَلِكَ ، قَالَ : وَحَزَرْنَا قِيَامَهُ فِي الْأُخْرَيَيْنِ عَلَى النِّصْفِ مِنَ الْأُولَيَيْن " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that we used to estimate the standing (qiyam) of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in the Zuhr and Asr prayers. Our estimation was that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would stand in the first two rak'ahs of Zuhr for the duration it takes to recite thirty verses, "which is about the length of Surah As-Sajdah," and in the last two rak'ahs, he would stand for half of that. In the first two rak'ahs of Asr prayer, he would stand for half of that, and in the last two rak'ahs, he would stand for half of that as well.
