Hadith 10958

حَدَّثَنَا كَثِيرٌ , حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرٌ , قََالَ : سَمِعْتُ يَزِيدَ بْنَ الْأَصَمِّ , يَقُولُ , قََالَ : أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ حَدِيثٌ لَا أَحْسِبُهُ إِلَّا رَفَعَهُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " لَيْسَ الْغِنَى عَنْ كَثْرَةِ الْعَرَضِ ، وَلَكِنَّ الْغِنَى غِنَى النَّفْسِ , وَاللَّهِ مَا أَخْشَى عَلَيْكُمْ الْفَقْرَ , وَلَكِنْ أَخْشَى عَلَيْكُمْ التَّكَاثُرَ , وَمَا أَخْشَى عَلَيْكُمْ الْخَطَأَ ، وَلَكِنْ أَخْشَى عَلَيْكُمْ الْعَمْدَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Wealth is not in the abundance of possessions; true wealth is the wealth of the heart. By Allah! I do not fear poverty for you, rather I fear abundance of wealth for you. And I do not fear mistakes for you, rather I fear that you will knowingly become involved in sins.
