Abu Salamah (may Allah have mercy on him) says that sometimes Marwan would appoint Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) to lead the people in prayer behind him. When he would go for Hajj or Umrah, Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) would lead the people in prayer, saying the takbeer before bowing and prostrating, and after finishing the prayer he would say: "Among you, I am the one who most closely resembles the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) in prayer."
