Hadith 10795

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I was walking with the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) in the garden of one of the people of Madinah, when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Abu Hurairah! The people who have an abundance of wealth have been ruined, except for those who distribute it with both hands, to the right, to the left, and in front, but such people are very few. Then after walking for a while, he said: Abu Hurairah! Shall I not tell you of a treasure from the treasures of Paradise? I said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), why not? He said: Say, "La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah wa la malja'a min Allah illa ilayh." Then after walking for a while, he said: Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), do you know what right people have over Allah, and what right Allah has over people? I said: Allah and His Messenger know best. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah's right over people is that they worship Him alone and do not associate anything with Him, and when they do this, their right over Allah is that He does not punish them.
