It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: None of you will enter Paradise or be saved from Hell by virtue of his deeds alone, unless Allah bestows His grace and mercy. The companions (may Allah be pleased with them) asked, "O Messenger of Allah! Not even you?" He replied, "Not even me, unless my Lord covers me with His forgiveness and mercy." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) repeated this statement two or three times.
