حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ , حَدَّثَنَا صَالِحُ بْنُ أَبِي الْأَخْضَرِ , حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ شِهَابٍ , عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ , عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ , قََالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَيْلَةَ أُسْرِيَ بِي , أُتِيتُ بِقَدَحَيْنِ قَدَحِ لَبَنٍ ، وَقَدَحِ خَمْرٍ , فَنَظَرْتُ إِلَيْهِمَا فَأَخَذْتُ اللَّبَنَ , فَقَالَ جِبْرِيلُ : الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي هَدَاكَ لِلْفِطْرَةِ , لَوْ أَخَذْتَ الْخَمْرَ غَوَتْ أُمَّتُكَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: On the night of Mi'raj, two vessels were brought to me, one containing milk and the other containing wine. I was told to choose whichever I wished. I chose the milk. Hazrat Jibreel (peace be upon him) said to me: Praise be to Allah, who guided you to the right nature. If you had chosen the wine, your Ummah would have gone astray.
